Five years on, the world has bet on coastal walls instead of Jaegers. A Kaiju smashes through the wall in Sydney and is stopped only by Striker Eureka, flown by father and son Herc and Chuck Hansen.

Raleigh arrives at the Hong Kong Shatterdome (2025)

Pentecost pulls Raleigh off the wall-building crew and brings him to Hong Kong. He meets Mako Mori, who runs the Jaeger restoration, and learns only four Jaegers are left.

Raleigh and Mako try the Drift together for the first time. Mako falls into a memory of a Kaiju attack on Tokyo and loses control, nearly firing the plasma cannon inside the base. Pentecost suspends her.

Newton goes to see Hannibal Chau, who sells Kaiju body parts. In the middle of the meeting two Kaiju hit Hong Kong, and Hannibal works out they came looking for Newton.

Two Kaiju attack Hong Kong (2025)

Every remaining Jaeger goes out to meet the two Kaiju. Two are destroyed and Striker Eureka is knocked out by an EMP, so Mako is reinstated and Gipsy Danger, which is nuclear-powered and immune to the pulse, takes them on.
